Musical theater direction

Graduated from the Accademia dei Filodrammatici in Milan, he alternates between directing and acting.

He has directed many operatic titles. Among the most recent ones: at the Teatro Coccia in Novara (Alienati, the first online opera at the time of the lockdown of Biscione, Cara, Carrara, Gon, Taralli; Mettici il cuore, novelty by Valentino Corvino), at Opera på Skäret in Sweden (Die Zauberflöte), at the Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi and at the Teatro Bellini in Catania (Adelson e Salvini by Bellini, recently released on DVD); at the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca (Nûr, by Marco Taralli, premiered), at Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo (Maria di Rohan, Linda di Chamounix, Cavalleria rusticana), at Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Trittico: Phaedra and Les Illuminations by Britten and Dido and Aeneas by Purcell), the Teatro della Fortuna in Fano (Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali, Don Pasquale), the Teatro Rossini in Lugo (Vite, Crime passionnel) and the Teatro Comunale in Modena (Il vagabondo delle stelle).

Since 2000 he collaborates continuously with the Wexford Festival Opera where he has directed about twenty titles among which: Falstaff, Le docteur Miracle by Bizet, Don Gregorio by Donizetti, La cambiale di matrimonio by Rossini, Une éducation manquée by Chabrier, Rigoletto, Cenerentola, Il Flauto magico, L’elisir d’amore, The Medium by Menotti, La serva padrona, La Bohème.

He recently staged at Spazio No’hma, as director and performer, the shows Non ci sono più le mezze stagioni and Futuristi per caso, under the musical direction of Alessandro Nidi.

Among the recent prose direction: All I wanted at the Tetro dell’Elfo in Milan, Melodia per una nota sola by Magdalena Barile, A nome tuo by Cinzia Spanò, from the novel by Mauro Covacich, Le amanti del Testori with Gianna Coletti.

With the director Vito Molinari has staged many shows, including Ailoviu. Sei perfetto ora cambia (of which he also edited the Italian translation); VarieEtà with the Trio Zanzibar; Più stupidi di così…; Fare l’amore non è peccato by Achille Campanile; Anche le antiche nel loro piccolo by Marcello Marchesi; Mamme by Carlo Terron; Rosa Salmone by Daolmi-Desinan.

He recently made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala as interpreter of two shows for children: Che Verdi viva! by Sandro Cappelletto to music by Verdi and La Gattomachia by Orazio Sciortino, both with the Cameristi della Scala.
